when i spoke in a voice
when i spoke in a voice
i forgot
i owned, i was startled,
somewhat struck; the children
had never heard it before,
even mother did not recall
hearing me so,
nor would dad for that matter,
had he been there—
he's been gone;
but you, most of all,
you where
befuddled;
your face was long; your eyes—
cold; you were gone
and i suppose, i too was then,
done for.
