and though i still am,
especially in here -
my mind -
i ask how this can be
when the ones i've had
hardly seem to have been
substantially mine -

just as yesterday
and every each preceding,
when space and time
were unwinding
and memory receding
with all notions of me
in mine.

so shall they be mine,
the tomorrows
and the nexts,
in due time?
or then, once again,
shall it seem they have been
substantially not mine?
